Solid Theater started operation in 2004 to produce high quality female characters-based figurines. Their risqué style has been drawing some of the most promiscuous otakus and collectors, however their quality still lags far behind the likes of Kotobukiya & Max Factory. In 2005, Solid Theater decided to dabble into the world of miniature collectible figurines with their Pocket Theater series. Kicking off is this "Hinatabouko" series which I have the slightest idea what series is about. But hey, it's the age of "Moe", and with this set surely fit in the nice Moe-style vignettes which always interest me, I'm hooked. But I'm baffled for the price difference in the gashapon & the trading figure versions when you get the same figurines in the end. |

Koharu (夏兄とお風呂)Is it just me or the people at Solid Theater has a fetish over little girls in shower/ bath? They did a couple of "Hajime no Oisha san" figurine vignettes with little girls in foamy bath. Fortunately the sculptor did the right thing to cover Koharu in her swimsuit as she tries fervently to scrub herself down. Not too much to talk about this vignette; the foam looks pretty sugary, Koharu's head is a wee bit too big and her arms tend to fall off from the body. I do like the shampoo at the rear as well as the apple-green tiles.

Nanase (夏兄とお風呂)The secret piece of this set is a more explicit Nanase joining her sister in the bath, and she was joined by the cranky-looking cubic pet creature who doesn't fancy a bath itself. I really do prefer the violet hair of Nanase and her eyes and overall facial sculpt are much nicer than Koharu. I really fancy the pet which adds color to many of the vignettes to follow. Though I don't fancy a young girl in stark naked to appease those pedophilic-inclined collectors, I think it's still better to take a bath without clothes on. The little bar of soap on the soap dish by the tiles are pretty nice as well.

Koharu (乱入)I assume the title suggest Koharu messing up the room as she scurried off to school after waking up late. Koharu's facial sculpt reminds me of the previous piece minus the foam on her head, and consistently resembling each other in the later pieces. The clock and the comfortable-looking pillow are nice inclusions in the vignette and the pet creature as well.

Koharu (ランチ)It's lunchtime and our resident blue-haired damsel had her sandwiches at a little corner of the school well indicated with post with her name on it. I really fancy this vignette with several nice details such as the sandwich basket, the bush on the rear as well as the sign-post bearing the name as well as a grape vine. I like the pose of Koharu, kneeling in such adorable way while indulging in her sandwich. There's groove on the grass patch to seat Koharu nicely as she was not meant to be pegged down.

Nanase (あそぼっ!)My fave vignette shows Nanase having some fun playing around with that pet creature who is presumably very interested in her white shoe which she aptly prevents it from snatching it. I really fancy Nanase's clothing with the red tie and the way her sleeves are been cut on the shoulder part. The pet creature looks especially cranky here, perhaps enraged on how it could not snatch the shoe from Nanase's hand. The bush, white fence and the 4-leaf clover are nice decorations to the base.

Koharu (元気)The final piece showing a happy and healthy Koharu skipping her way while the anguished pet creature follows her trail. I don't really like Koharu here, once again her cranium been well to huge for her body. The removal blouse is a fantastic feature for our sexed-up collectors from Japan but the blouse looks very out of place and doesn't seems to connect properly on the edges. I do like the beige shoes though. The pet creature with the stalk of grass are nice decorative features.

3 and three quarter stars for this inaugural Pocket Theater set in which some of designs are not that appealing but to me the weird-looking pet creature is more appealing than the 2 girls. |
