Murata Range is a renowned illustrator honing his trades in the beautiful land of Japan. He specialized in cover art and video game design before his conceptual and character designs for anime series like "Blue Submarine No. 6" and "Last Exile" which propelled into stardom and now he is concentrating in fashion design and his project known as "PSE" (or PASTA'SEST AB) in which this series of trading figurines is base on. I wanted to get the original version back in 2004 but due to some technical problem, my suppliers couldn't get their stocks but this set is more than fit to replace that with perhaps better color combination. |

PSE 01-ReWe kick off the series with this piece with a serious-looking lass, standing in full attention in front of a machinery which resembles a black post box cross over with some anti-mosquito light source. The serious-looking lead here seems a bit beef up from the face. and from the design of the eyes as well as the rounded face, you will identify it as work of Murata sensei instantly. The original series her well-zipped up one piece dress is brown in color but I feel black is the preferred choice definitely. The piece of machinery at the rear looks pretty interesting in design, could it be a ticking time bomb?

PSE 02-ReThe second piece features a lass sitting idly on a cushioned stool, enjoying music via her uniquely-designed headphones. A beautifully designed piece as you can actually feel relax just by looking at this girl and even listen to the tune that makes her calm as she is. The details surrounding this piece is impeccable from the cat's ears headphones (I think I heard purring of joy from the otakus out there), the sporty tops and skirt, the gloves with seems studded with electronic gadget, zip-up boots as well as the cushion stool which is part antique part futuristic, such distinct amalgam which is made famous by Murata sensei of course.

PSE 03-ReThe third PSE girl has some resemblance of a certain character of "Last Exile" is sitting comfortably on a European style antique armchair. This is my favorite piece of the set. Firstly the the character is really nicely done as this character has the nicest facial sculpt. I really like the entire attire including that pointy headwear; it has a certain royalty feel to it, perhaps it is so closely resemble the design found in "Last Exile". The armchair is a great addition with elegant carvings by the 2 arms and the "PSE" logo located at the base of the chair.

PSE 04-ReThe fourth PSE girl is a little girl, having fun with her awkward looking soft toy. There's a pretty oxymoronic feel to this piece. The design is supposed to be a little girl playing his plush toy but the face looks distinctly adult to me. But nevertheless the facial sculpt is nicely done up but the same can't be said about that shockingly pink colored rabbit-like creature with eerie green lips much like been smitten by toxin. The design of the attire is pretty simple but once more the boots are elegantly done and even the soles' pattern well defined.

PSE 06-ReThe final is a bust of a girl who also seems to straight out from the cast of "Last Exile" especially that pair of goggles prominently on her head. A pretty nice bust figure which reminds me a bit of Paula Edner bust from the Lorelei Figure Collection I showed before. The face is nicely done but the expression is a wee bit aloof for my liking. The well-gelled up hair is a feature on it's own and the goggles definitely bears the signature of Murata sensei in it. The spaghetti-strapped blouse she is wearing is pretty avant garde in design as well.
